Valentin Makarov
Mr. Makarov was one of founders of Consortium "Fort Ross" - amalgamation of
software developing companies, which has successfully organized dozen of road-shows
to Scandinavia, US and Germany; have arranged "Russian Pavilions" at International
exhibitions such as COMDEX-Nordic in 2002, Comdex -Scandinavia in 2003, CEBIT in
2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, OutsourceWorld London in 2002 and Outsource World New
York in 2003. The number of members increased from 10 to 18 within 2 years,
totaling more that 1500 engineers.
Since March 2002 up to March 2004 Mr.Makarov has been the President of the
National Software Development Association which has further taken new abbreviation -
"RUSSOFT".
In March 2004 he left RUSSOFT and came back to "Fort Ross Consortium", which
became a member of the APCIT (Association of Producers of Computer' and
Information Technologies) and got there the position of the Committee for software
development and export. Mr.Makarov thus became the Chairman of that Committee and
in December 2003 he was elected to the Board of APKIT.
In September 2004 RUSSOFT and "Fort Ross" merged, "Fort Ross" Consortium took
the name of "RUSSOFT Association" and became the unique voice of the export
oriented Russian software development industry from Russia.
During his presidency in "Fort Ross"-RUSSOFT, the number of members increased
up to more that 75, covering all major IT centers from Russia, Ukraine and
Byelorussia with more that 7000 engineers.
In May 2002 Mr.Makarov became member of the organizing Committee of the
American-Russian IT round tables. The major achievements on this position so far
have been organization of the First Russian IT Season in New York and the
Technology Roundtable in San Jose in November 2002.
In October 2002, on behalf of RUSSOFT he signed the Memorandum of Understanding
with BITKOM, the major German IT Association, and in March 2004 he signed another
Memorandum of understanding with BITKOM, this time on behalf of APKIT (major
Russian IT Association). In July 2004 on behalf of "Fort Ross Consortium he signed
Memorandum of Cooperation with KISA (Kansai Information Services Association) from
Japan.
In 2003-2004 Mr.Makarov was twice elected to the Board of the APKIT Association,
the largest whole It Association in Russia.
In December 2003 he was representing Russia at the meeting of the WITSA Steering
Committee when APKIT was admitted to WITSA as Russian National IT member Association.
In March 2004 Mr.Makarov was nominated to the Steering Committee of WITSA,
representing Russia in that organization.
