The Baltic IT Cruise is a meeting place for IT professionals from all over
the Baltic Sea (Scandinavia, Baltic States, Poland and North-Western part of Russia).
If you are searching the new opportunities of your IT development or would like
to explore new markets, to exchange experiences of IT outsourcing or establish a
company on the other side of the Baltics, this event is a must for you. The
conference will take place onboard of comfortable Viking Line ferry, which will
also give excellent networking opportunities.
Large Scandinavian companies are going to join. Among the Cruise participants
you will find such famous names as TietoEnator, Scala, StoraEnso, CSC, Fortum,
Nokia, VINNOVA. The list of participating is updating daily. And of course you
will meet all the leaders in software development from North-West Russia, Latvia,
Estonia, Lithunia.
Several new speakers have confirmed their participation. Per-Ake Andersson,
IT Director at VINNOVA, will speak about his view on IT globalization in the
Baltic Sea region and challenges to use IT help from abroad. Harry Piela, Sybase
Lithuania, will present some results of his large experience fo esatblishing
offices in baltic States.
Russian Government is also onboard. Mrs Selena Semushkina from Russian Federal
IT Agency will present the views of Russian Government on development and support
of IT and software in Russia.
Ulf Baggstrom, Managing Director CSC Sweden, has confirmed the participation
in the Cruise. CSC is a global leader of IT services, 45 years old, employing
90000+ people around the globe. CSC in Scandinavia has the good experience of
using a Russian software company as a subcontractor. Ulf Baggstrom will speak on
opportunities and challenges of IT outsourcing..
More and more Nordic companies are establishing business on the other side
of the Baltic Sea. This is the opinion from Jan Book, Senior Consultant and
Partner at Informatics, he follows the growing trend for outplacement of the IT
and software development to the Baltic States and Russia. The largest challenge
is still language problems, because not every Nordic company would like to have
the internal communication and documentation in English. Jan Book will present

Head of IT Committee, St Petersburg City Administration will be speaking
at the Cruise. St Petersburg City Administration will be represented by Mr
Sergey Zhdanov, Chairman of the Committee of Information Technologies and
Communication. "The IT integration of the Baltic Sea region is very important",
Mr Zhdanov says. "Nowadays the Baltic Sea region is one of the most developed in
terms of Internet penetration, mobility, developing of new technologies. And it
can grow further by using the skillful pool of resources existing on the other
side of the Baltic Sea".
The most interesting are "real life examples". The experience from many
international business conferences and seminars shows that the most exciting
presentations which raise the large interest from the audience and are followed
by questions and discussions, are examples from "real life", about the concrete
experience of establishing an office, outplacement of software development or
finding a distribution partner. Mane such examples will be collected onboard. We
have invited such companies as TietoEnator, Scala, Nokia, Prolog Development
Center, FOSS, Oplayo, Vinnova, Infochain to exchange their experience with the
audience.
General Consuls of the countries around the Baltic Sea will help for IT Cruise preparation. On October 22, the meeting with all Consulates General of Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be held in St Petersburg City Administration. Consuls will discuss how to distribute the information about the Cruise in their countries and help to attract more participants and mass media awareness.
